Social Security Administration

The Social Security Administration (SSA) administers Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) and Supplemental Security Income (SSI). SSDI and SSI are the largest of several Federal programs that provide assistance to people with disabilities. The website contains detailed information about SSI, SSDI and other SSA programs, including work incentive information for those individuals interested in returning to work.

Section 508

Section 508 requires that Federal agencies’ electronic and information technology is accessible to people with disabilities. IT Accessibility & Workforce Division, in the U.S. General Services Administration’s Office of Government-wide Policy, has been charged with the task of educating Federal employees and building the infrastructure necessary to support Section 508 implementation. Using this web site, Federal employees and the public can access resources for understanding and implementing the requirements of Section 508.

Regional Disability and Business Technical Assistance Centers

The National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research (NIDRR) has established ten regional centers to provide information, training, and technical assistance to employers, people with disabilities, and other entities with responsibilities under the ADA. The centers act as a “one-stop” central, comprehensive resource on ADA issues in employment, public services, public accommodations, and communications. Each center works closely with local business, disability, governmental, rehabilitation, and other professional networks to provide ADA information and assistance. Programs vary in each region, but all centers provide the following:

  • Technical Assistance
  • Education and Training
  • Materials Dissemination
  • Information and Referral
  • Public Awareness
  • Local Capacity Building

National Service Dog Center

Delta’s National Service Dog Center provides referrals and resources for people with disabilities who have service dogs to help them overcome barriers in their environments and achieve greater independence and realization of goals. Delta also provides education about service dog issues and referral to appropriate resources.
