This training is based on a comprehensive set of competencies that community partner staff must acquire in order to achieve Community Partner Work Incentives Counseling Certification. Community partners (that’s you!) are welcome and encouraged to participate in these training sessions. If you work with clients that are receiving Social Security benefits, I would highly encourage you to attend this free training.

Tax Time Saving: IDAs and the EITC

The EITC, the nation’s largest antipoverty program for working families, is a refundable tax credit worth up to $6,000 based on family size and income. By encouraging tax-time saving, partnering with VITA programs in your community to establish referral systems and promoting the use of refund splitting during the tax filing process, you can help your savers advance toward reaching their savings goals.

During the webinar, AFI will:

  • Review what the EITC is and how to access it.
  • Hear from AFI grantees that have successfully partnered with VITA programs.
  • Discuss strategies for communicating with savers about EITC and for collaborating with VITA programs.

 Date: Thursday, January 30, 2014

Time: 2:00 – 3:00pm Eastern

Register Here:  https://www1.gotomeeting.com/register/658189049

The webinar is free to all interested participants.

Virtual Job Club

In February 2014, we’ll be making our 6-week Virtual Job Club, which we currently only offer to our Ticket to Work clients, available to other job seekers!  We’ll be holding an information session next month if you’re interested in learning more.  Stay tuned for more information!
